Bill Haslam and other idiots

Betcha HE'S got healthcare!

Betcha HE’S got healthcare!

Dear Citizens of Tennessee

Your governor, Bill Haslam, is a raving maniac. He is an idiot who hesitates about allowing the citizens of his fine State to accept Federal money to pay their medical bills. It is your right as a U.S. citizen to receive benefits from Medicad, but Bill Haslam and his right-wing nuthead State legislators think you will be better off without. They think it will be better if you pay your own hospital and doctor bills, even if you already live on the borderline and may have to file for bancruptcy. Why? Because you will be helping them to uphold a political decision based on the policy of their party, the Republicans, namely that we will all be better off if we shrink the size of the Federal government.

Of course, this is the classical example of cutting off your nose to spite your face. And it will require big sacrifices. Fortunately for Bill Haslam and his buddies in the Tennessee legislation, they won’t be the ones who have to make these sacrifices. THEY have healtchcare. Lots of it, in fact,

Instead, guess who will? You, of course! You, the taxpayer, who have already paid your share to Washington in the form of Federal Taxes, which Washington wants to give back to you in the form of Medicaid benefits, if you are really poor and really need help. But Bill Haslam thinks it would be better for you not to.

He and his Republican buddies like Rick Perry of Texas and Bobby Jindal of Louisiana think of this as a character-building excersize. Execpt it’s not their character that they think needs building – its YOURS! So please, good citizens of Tennessee, please hang on! Please suffer through this! In the end, we may all emerge as a country that remains the only industrialized nation in the world that does not provide decent healthcare for each and every citizen. And that is something Republicans can be proud of!

As for the rest of us, maybe not so much…
